Transforming a Traditional Property into a Modern Family Home
This project involved the full renovation and extension of a 1950s two-bedroom house, transforming it into a spacious and modern three-bedroom family home.
By rethinking both the layout and functionality of the property, we created a home that blends contemporary design, practical living spaces, and high-quality craftsmanship.
The Vision
The original property was limited by:
- A dated layout that didn’t suit modern living
- Restricted space for growing family needs
- Lack of functional utility areas, such as storage and laundry
- Minimal connection between living, dining, and kitchen spaces
The goal was to create a home that felt open, practical, and future-ready, while maximising the footprint through thoughtful extensions.
Our Approach
We delivered a full renovation and extension, enhancing both the structure and internal layout.
1. Extending the Living Space
By extending both the front and rear of the property, we were able to:
- Add a welcoming front porch
- Introduce a downstairs toilet
- Create a spacious, open-plan kitchen-diner
- Add an additional bedroom
2. Reimagining the Ground Floor
To improve day-to-day functionality, we introduced:
- A country-style boot room
- A dedicated laundry room
- A practical kitchen pantry
These additions significantly improved storage, organisation, and usability.
3. High-Quality Interior Finishes
The home was finished to a high standard, including:
- A modern kitchen-diner layout ideal for entertaining
- Handcrafted staircase and bespoke joinery throughout
- Carefully selected materials to create a warm, contemporary feel
4. Comfort & Efficiency
To ensure long-term comfort and energy performance, we installed:
- An EV charging point, supporting sustainable living
- Underfloor heating for consistent, efficient warmth
- A bespoke garden room to extend usable living space
The Result
The transformation delivered a home that is:
- Larger, brighter, and more functional
- Designed for modern family life
- Finished with high-quality, bespoke details
- Equipped with future-ready features
The open-plan kitchen-diner now acts as the heart of the home, while additional utility spaces make everyday living more practical and organised.
